Wow, what a day at the Gun Club! I've checked the Hfx. Harbour Bouy and McNabs Island wind stats today and for some reason The Gun Club had more wind. Today's North wind was very manageable and we had a couple hours of 15-20kts. and a couple hours of 8-12kts.

What a beautiful spot to ride- easy to find flat water down wind of a sand bar, huge areas of 2-4ft. deep sandy bottom areas which is perfect for beginneres, and again ....the place is just beautiful!!

Threw down tons of backroll kiteloops and F16's. Just too bad I destroyed so much gear: 2kites and a harness.

Oh well, it was worth it! Question is where the hell were the rest of you?

Hey Gavin, sounds great (except for the gear part). Where is the Gun Club? What conditions are best suited to this location?
Thanks.

Sweet Session at The Gun Club. Empty Direction to the Gun Club

Post  gavin feargrieve Mon Jun 06, 2011 7:01 am

I am pretty sure you will find details about The Gun Club (and other spots) on this website. Just hunt around a bit.

The Gun Club is located near Rainbow Haven Beach. It's the sound side (inland) of Rainbow Haven. Pass the turn off to go in the beach parking lot and continue straight until you cross a bridge. There you will find The Dartmouth Skeet Shooting Club. If you follow the shore around the club you will find Halifax's best kept secret- flat water paradise! This spot works in any wind direction, but keep in mind on a South wind you could get blown away from the launch, across the channel, and onto the grassy islands. Hardly life threatening, but a hassle just the same.
