Destinations in Varadero

Hi all - in the process of booking a trip to Cuba in the new year. Most likely destination will be Varadero Cuba. As the other half of my vote will want a 4.5 star or higher - any recommendations of resorts friendly to kiting? jb

A few years back we stayed at the Iberostar Varadero. It was a good kiting location, they allowed us to kite directly from the resort beach. We were skunked for wind, only 2 short lightwind sessions the whole week.

I stayed at the Barlovento 5 years ago- it was fine. It was cheap. I was not kiting at the time so don't know if it's kiter friendly. If you end up at a resort that will not allow kiting- no worries. You can take a 5/ 10 min. taxi to the end of the beach where you'll have no problems launching a kite. You'll see when you get there.

BTW, Varadero has one of the most beautiful beaches I've seen and I've seen a lot.
